These traditional and religious events in Majorca are celebrated all around Spain and are very important for each village’s population.
They have not been lost with the passing of the years and it is a real treat for tourists to see such a crazy spirit of liveliness. The fiestas in Mallorca are well organised and it is admirable to see how the locals enjoy them.
See below for a list of some of the important dates when these festivities are celebrated on the island of Majorca:
-The famous carnival held in all the insular villages with processions and disguises (February)
-Easter Week (March-April)
-The Day of God (June)
-The day of the Moors and the Christians (May) in Soller in Pollença in August (Majorca). Re-enactment of the victory over the Turkish pirates in 1561.
-Feast of the Vermar at Binissalem (Majorca), wine-tasting of the regional wines (the last Sunday in September)
-Feast of the Devout in Palma de Majorca. A cavalcade where you can see floats from many of the island’s villages (3rd Saturday in October).
